Welcome to our first season of Cooking Club!
Our goal is to explore the various cuisines from around the world: American, Greek, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and many more. A different country will be selected each month, and we will research the culture, music, traditions, history, and of course the food of that country. Each member will prepare a different dish representative of the chosen country’s cuisine, and we will then meet at the host’s house to sample the different dishes. We will also cook one dish together.
Cooking Club will be a perfect place for adventurous foodies to have fun together. Any and all cooking levels are welcome!
Our first meeting is dedicated to the ever-popular Italian cuisine. We will research, prepare, and share with each other the following dishes:
Appetizers
We’ll start with some bruschetta (as there are hundreds of different toppings for bruschetta, feel free to make it as you wish. Some suggestions: cherry tomatoes, basil, & red onions; white beans & kale), crostini (suggested toppings: chicken liver; goat cheese & green olives), and antipasto (e.g., prosciutto-wrapped asparagus).
Salad
For the next course, perhaps an artichoke, fennel, & crispy prosciutto salad?
Main Course
How about cioppino, the delicious seafood stew, or a seafood pasta for the main course?
Dessert
And for the best part of every dinner party, the Italian classic tiramisu (maybe with some twist) or a crostata with seasonal fruit would be a sweet and delicious way to end the meal.
These are just some suggestions - you may select and prepare any dish from this list, or one of your own choosing. Please be sure to bring copies of your recipe to share with us, together with your cooking experience. I'll provide Italian music in order to create the perfect atmosphere for the dinner party.
Join us and have some fun, meet new friends, and learn some new recipes! Bon Appetit!
