What better way to familiarize yourself with Ridgefield than exploring the back roads and surrounding areas on a Bicycle. We are truly fortunate to live in area full of classic New England beauty which makes getting in a couple of hours of cardio that much easier.
While the Ridgefield Newcomers Club takes the summer off, the Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club has invited our members to join them for weekly Rides. RBSC has a variety of ride levels including basic riding "101" which is intended to introduce riding to new riders or reinforce the skills of returning riders who haven't been out in a while and who may not be comfortable jumping into a group ride right away. RBSC offers riding clinics twice a week on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am and on Thursday Evenings at 5:45. The stated times are when the rides start, so get there early to get your bike down and gear on.
The Tuesday morning ride leave from the shop located at 88 Danbury Road and may also include a trail riding series for those who may not be comfortable with riding on the road. Thirsty Thursday rides, (did I mention there is free beer after the ride?) rotate starting locations and riding workshops. Check the Ridgefield Bicycle Company's Facebook page prior to every ride for current information on starting location, riding clinics and current status regarding weather. Rain or heavy winds will cancel the event.
Helmets and appropriate riding gear are required.
Be sure to mention to the ride leader that you are new to their event and are from Newcomers Club and looking for the riding clinics. The Thursday night rides can get a bit crazy.
